Let's make Carylon's (from Homesteading Family) herbal oils and salves from her challenge in the Homestead Kitchen Membership area! If you don't know what I'm talking about, you should sign up for the membership here to get the recipes. Recipes do NOT come with this kit.

Dry herbs that come with this kit (and may also be used as a refill for the full kit):

  • 2 - 1 oz bags of Calendula 
  • 1 - 1 oz bag Lavender (works for tea too!)
  • 1 - 1 oz bag Comfrey 
  • 2- 1 oz bags of Plantain 
  • 2 - 1 oz bags of Rose Petals 
  • 1 - 1 oz bag of Garlic Granules 
  • 1 -1 oz bag of White Peppercorns (will need ground; a coffee grinder works great!)
  • 1- 1 0z bag Cayenne Flakes (A.K.A. Chili Pepper Flakes)

Calendula, Lavender, Comfrey, Plantai, Rose Petal, Garlic Granules, White Peppercorns, and Cayenne Flakes.

Store in an airtight container away from temperature extremes and sunlight.

Calendula: Pregnancy: Do not use if pregnant due to miscarriage concern. (Do your own Research) Drug interactions may be found here: https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-235/calendula

Lavender: Stop using 2 weeks before surgery. Drug contraindications may be found here: https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-838/lavender

Comfrey: Not for use if pregnant or nursing. If suffering any medical condition or taking medication, consult a healthcare practitioner before use. Not for excessive or long-term use. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid using on broken skin.

Cayenne: Excessive dose may cause gastrointestinal irritation or heartburn, or exacerbate gastroesophageal reflux. Cayenne preparations irritate the mucous membranes and cause injured or broken skin.

Rose Petals: Rose tea may interact with certain medications, like blood thinners or antidepressants. Find drug contraindications here: https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-839/rose-hip

White Pepper: Pregnancy- likely UNSAFE in medicinal amounts, safe in food amounts. May cause abortion. Do not consume pepper in non-food amounts 2 weeks before surgery as it could cause bleeding.
