As the days grow shorter and frosty winds return, many homesteaders have kept a special blend of herbs close at hand for the first signs of winter discomfort. Our First Signs Tincture Mix combines licorice root, echinacea angustifolia root, mullein, and red root—plants traditionally valued in farmhouse apothecaries when the cold months settled in and families needed extra warmth and care.

This “dump-and-go” mix makes it simple to prepare your own tincture at home. Just add 100-proof alcohol (or vegetable glycerine), steep for two weeks, strain, and bottle. It’s a heritage-inspired way to keep your pantry and apothecary cupboard stocked as the seasons shift into fall and winter.

AMAZING TINCTURE!!

This is the best tincture to ward off any type of cold, scratchy throat or oh, no I think I'm getting sick symptom! We take it 1-3 times a day depending on how "oh, no" we're feeling and it always nips it within a day or two!

First signs tincture

We have to have this on hand every winter, if taken regularly, I find that it can hold off colds or lessen the symptoms. I take this at the first sign of a sore throat! The tincture process is pretty simple and easy to follow.
