Oregon grape is a colorful flowering shrub found in western North America's mountains. Similarly to goldenseal, it contains the chemical constituent known as berberine, making it an excellent substitute. Sustainably wild-harvested, the plant has rich golden-hued root and root bark that can even be used as a yellow dye. However, its bitterness prevents it from being brewed into a tea - so it's best tinctured instead! Fibrous and with a less-than-remarkable odor, Oregon grape root is ideal for topical antiseptic skin care products and digestive support tinctures.*
