Calendula (Calendula officinalis), a daisy family member native to western Asia, Europe and Mediterranean regions, blooms with bright golden orange flowers. It offers a floral flavor, antioxidants like lutein, lycopene and beta-carotene, and is commonly used as a natural yellow dye for coloring wool and cloth. Use dried calendula to garnish soups and salads, or bake into cookies, cakes and breads.

Calendula is an excellent herb to sip as tea or use in tea blends, great for potpourri and floral displays, and can be infused in oil for soaps, lotions and other topical formulations.
